Christmas is almost upon us, Hannukah is past. For many, this time of year is a time to give thanks. Yes, at Thanksgiving we gave thanks – but that was mostly for the bounty of food we receive at harvest.
There are many ways to give thanks for at Christmas, and not all in boxes tied up with ribbon after fighting a parking lot at your local mall. Giving to a charity is on many people’s list this time of year whether it be to advance research in medicine; or, to help a family not as fortunate as we are. Send a simple hand-written letter of thanks to a friend who gave you assistance over the past year. Clean up our planet is a way to give to us all. Simply recycle tin cans and plastic bottles; or, pick up a piece of rubbish off the street and put in the receptacle. Give a smile to the clerk in the store who has been assisting customers for days and weeks with their problems. Smiles are free. You can also give an ElderCollege friend, or someone new to ElderCollege, our $20 gift certificate to attend a class. Go to our News & Events page and click on the Gift Of Learning ... but hurry, it ends soon. For me, I give thanks to the wonderful volunteers around me that have stepped up to help make ElderCollege a reality for us all. Any comments ? Just click on the “comments” word at the top of the blog article and send us your note. ..... Ed
